Theoretical aspects of business socialization

Purpose.  To describe a concept of business socialization and reveal peculiarities of its expression.

Methodology.  Analysis of socialization models and theoretical aspects conducted by using scientific literature, content and comparative analysis, methods of systematization and generalization.

Results. Theoretical research describes features of business socialization as well as assumptions and possibilities of use. 

Theoretical contribution. In scientific literature a concept of socialization is used mostly in the context of educology and andragogy by describing processes of interaction between different generations and social groups during which young people absorb knowledge, valuables, attitudes and behaviour of elders and based on which valuables, the proprieties, roles and models are being formed. In the context of policy and social sciences the concept of socialization is described mostly as a process of absorption of social value attitudes and behaviour standards, person’s (individual’s) becoming a member of society. In this context socialization is being perceived as a process of person’s self-perfection, adaptation and integration into society, which is distinguished to primal and secondary socialization. In the context of social environment, where social interactions of the person take place, there are distinguished types of organizational, cultural, political, positive and smart socialization. Expression of single types of socialization is described through circumstances of social experience absorption process. Having evaluated business as one of particular forms of expression of social relationship that create favourable conditions for practical implementation of every person’s abilities and talents, a separate type of business socialization can be distinguished. Social, legal, economical and technological environment of business highlights features and personal characteristics of the individual, which are being expressed through ability to notice possibilities, find market niches, risk, tackle the problems and take decisions as well as leadership, creativity, innovative thinking, appetency for innovations. Last features of expression of individual’s abilities make a concept of enterprise. In scientific literature an enterprise is treated as a totality of human’s abilities or qualitative social feature that describes individual’s ability to direct adaptation of practical natural and acquired abilities (such as initiativeness, innovativity, creativity, risk taking) towards creation of additional value.  Knowing that socialization is person’s functional adapting to any social environment and absorbing of values of that environment, business socialization would include enterprise as expression of forms of economical social cooperation in business environment. 

Practical implications. Distinguishing of separate types of business socialization creates theoretical base and practical presumptions for analysis of efficiency of means of business stimulation and research of enterprise at different social, economical, political and cultural levels.
